Prayer for the West Virginia State House of Delegates 2020

Almighty, merciful Creator, as we open this session today we implore that you would:
In these times of confusion bring clarity to this legislative body;
In these times of division bring cohesiveness and unity,
In these times of strife bring genuine care and concern; and
Where the enemy would sow hatred, sow seeds of your Divine love.
We humble ourselves before you,
Help us to repent of our pride and look to you for Wisdom,
You have said in your Word that you’d graciously bestow that wisdom
which is from above: it “is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full
of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy; then the fruit
of righteousness will be sown in peace by those who make peace.”
( James 3:17-18 NKJV)
We ask for wisdom to serve the noble people of this great state in ways
which are beneficial to them and honorable to you.
May we respect those with whom we have differences and find
resolutions for the benefit of our citizens.
May we serve all our citizens regardless of age, social status, gender or ethnicity.
May we value all persons as souls created in your image, including the unborn.
Protect those in law enforcement who protect us.
Be the defense of those in our military who defend our freedom.
Be the protector our first responders who serve so selflessly.
Be the source of knowledge to our educators who enlighten our children.
Bless this assembly as they serve the citizens of this state.
Grant them the ability to govern effectively with equity.
Thank you for all the blessings you’ve graciously bestowed upon us!
Hear the prayers of your people and bring relief from the scourge of
addictions that plague so many of our friends and family members!
Bring a Revival of righteousness to West Virginia!
We ask these things in the incomparable, matchless Name of Jesus Christ our Lord!
